The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Milton Skaggs can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The Garfield Bandaid

My favorite memory of Milton was while working at Otasco. He was replacing a muffler on a car, and he bumped his head. His forehead was bleeding. Mary Medlin and I told him he needed to put a bandaid on it especially if he was going back to the garage. So we had the bright idea to draw a picture on the bandaid and put it on him, which we did. He let Mary put the bandaid on his forehead and never noticed it had something drawn on it. I had drawn a Garfield head, with a caption above it that said Hi!. We laughed and laughed at how funny we were, knowing he'd go to the restroom later and find it. He went out to the garage, and then hopped into Old Blue, and left. When he got back, he was so mad at us. He said he needed to kill a couple of girls. Later, he told us he'd been all over town, the Parts Store, Post Office, the Bank. He said everone would just smile and giggle at him. He didn't know why everyone was being so odd, until he got in the truck to come back, and saw, on his forehead, the bandaid with the Garfield. He couldn't believe not one person said anything about the bandaid. He was always great fun to work with, and he forgave you for the hyjinx.
