Funeral services for Cushing resident, Delena Roberts, were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Drumright First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Henry Kellogg officiating. Interment followed in Euchee Valley Memorial Park near Cushing. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.
Delena Roberts was born in Stratford, Oklahoma on February 10, 1922 to the late Wallace Hayes & Nettie (Hollingsworth) Hayes. She passed from this life in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 17, 2017 at the age of 95 years, 6 months, & 7 days. Delena was raised & educated in Ada, Oklahoma & was a 1940 graduate of Ada High School. At the start of World War II, she had a desire to do whatever she could for her country; so she traveled to San Francisco, California and worked in the shipyards as a certified welder. She was very proud of her achievement. After the war, she married Raymond Francis Roberts on March 26, 1948. They moved from Tecumseh to Cushing in 1961 & remained together until his death in 2011. Delena was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God & taught Sunday school for many years. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed working outdoors, & loved watching & feeding hummingbirds. She also enjoyed watching football, basketball, & baseball; especially the Saint Louis Cardinals & Dallas Cowboys. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by 3 BROTHERS: Ardel Hayes – R.J. Hayes - & Raymond Hayes; & 2 SISTERS: Argie Jones & Arcie Hayes.
Her remaining family includes her CHILDREN: Alan Roberts & wife Lisa of Broken Arrow – Tim Roberts & wife Pam of Tulsa; GRANDCHILDREN: Terry & Janay Roberts – Nikki & Chris Gripe – Aaron Roberts – Aimee Roberts – Kelli & Adam Hollingsworth – Kaci Curato; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Christopher – Dillon – Emily – Zachary – Hayden - & Gavin; also numerous Nieces, Nephews, other relatives & friends.
