Obituary for James "Jim" Ray Shaw

A memorial service for former Drumright resident, Jim Shaw was held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Durant of the Drumright First United Methodist Church officiated. Masonic rites were provided by Drumright Masonic Lodge & Military Funeral Honors were provided by the United States Air Force. Interment followed in the Drumright Greenlawn Cemetery. Cremation & funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

James R. “Jim” Shaw was born in Caney, Kansas on September 18, 1931 to the late Ray Shaw & Eula (Wills) Shaw. He passed from this life at his residence in Perkins on September 30, 2017 at the age of 86 years & 12 days. Jim was raised & educated up & down the Standard Oil Company line & finally settled in Drumright in 1944. He joined the United States Air Force in 1948 & served overseas for many years. He married Geraldine Vandiver in Clovis, New Mexico on May 01, 1954 & they have remained together until his death. Jim retired from the Air Force in 1970 & they settled in Riverside, California where he owned & operated Shaw’s Metal Shop. He later retired from there & moved to Drumright in 1991 where he owned & operated Shaw’s Fabrication until his third retirement. Jim & his wife Gerry were very active in many organizations including: Drumright-Cushing Elks Lodge, VFW, Drumright Chamber of Commerce, Drumright Senior Citizens, & the Oklahoma Territory Soap Box Derby Association. He was a very active member & Past Master of the Drumright Masonic Lodge #468 A.F. & A.M. & the Tulsa Akdar Shrine Center. His dedication to them and many other organizations will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Kenneth & Karen Shaw; & GRANDSON: Scott Shaw.

His remaining family includes his loving WIFE: Gerry Shaw; DAUGHTER: Patty Shaw; GRANDSON: Aaron Shaw; GREAT Grandchildren: Mike – Bryan – Kristian - & Cheyanne; BROTHER: Harold Shaw of Indiana; SISTER: Patricia Laing of Florida, & NUMEROUS other relatives & friends.
