Funeral services for Drumright resident, Kent Montgomery, were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Gilliland officiating. Fireman’s honors were provided by the Drumright Fire Department. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. Kent Montgomery was born in Tulsa on March 16, 1952 to the late Otis Harold Montgomery & Elberta Carlice (Willett) Montgomery. He passed from this life at his residence on February 11, 2017 at the age of 64 years, 10 months, & 26 days. Kent was raised & educated in Olive & was the valedictorian of the 1970 graduating class at Olive High School. He went on to college at Oklahoma State University & graduated with an Associate Degree. Kent had worked locally as a mechanic all his life & was a 20 year veteran of the Drumright Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. He had a very strong work ethic, which he instilled in his kids & grandkids. He taught them to be honest, helpful & kind to others, and community minded. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing & raising cattle. But none brought him more joy than spending time with his grandkids & family. In December of 1971, he married Rita Jean Medlock & they remained together until her unfortunate death in 1994. On August 31, 1995 he married Teri Lynn Hicks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas & they made their home in Drumright. In addition to his parents & first wife, he was preceded in death by GRANDCHILDREN: Zachary James; & Christina Harman. His remaining family includes his WIFE: Teri Montgomery of the home; CHILDREN: Shane Montgomery & wife Tina of Drumright – Chad Montgomery – Darrell Medlock & wife Mari Ann – Carissa Harmon & husband Mark; BROTHER: Brent Montgomery & wife Carlene; NIECES: Tiana Fortney – Keri Sowards & husband Tim & daughter Savannah; GRANDCHILDREN: Shandra Medlock – Mychael & Cynthia Medlock – Daryl Lee Medlock & Kyndel Gooch – Kelley & Cordell Montgomery – Brittany & Tyler Penrod – Kyra & Nick Penny – Dustin & Harlie Harman – Arron Montgomery; GREAT Grandchildren: Presley Penny – Rylie Medlock – Rayne Medlock – Ruger Stanley; & several other relatives & friends.
