Funeral services for former Haskell resident, James E. Tackett, will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 in the Wagoner First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Boyett officiating. Military funeral honors were provided by the United States Navy. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am prior to the services in the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery at Porter, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. James E. Tackett was born in Vian, Oklahoma on August 31, 1926 to the late Lester Tackett & Lottie (Gragg) Tackett. He passed from this life in Claremore, Oklahoma on July 7, 2016 at the age of 89 years, 10 months, & 7 days. James was raised & educated in Vian & later moved to Porter where he worked on the family farm. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 & served his country during WWII. After discharge, he married Minnie Mae Ridley in Muskogee on November 17, 1947 & they made their home in Haskell for many years. James had worked primarily in the Steel Industry and as a farmer. He had also worked for the City of Catoosa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and traveling. Since 2009, he had resided in the VA Center at Claremore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Minnie Tackett in 2008; SISTERS: Louella Hargis – Delores Buttler – Dorotha Doake; & a BROTHER: Jewel Tackett.
He leaves behind his CHILDREN: Ron Tackett & wife Sandee of Arkansas – Brenda Caudle & husband Don of Stillwater – Kathy Williams of Catoosa – Beverly Seaborne & husband Bob of Grove; 9 GRANDCHILDREN & NUMEROUS Great & Great Great Grandchildren; BROTHERS: R.D. Tackett of Broken Arrow – Paul Tackett & wife Marilyn of Wagoner – Junior Tackett & wife Pat of Coweta – Don Tackett & wife Cleata of Coweta; also numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives & friends.
