Obituary for Gail Jeanette Cowan

Gail was born on April 28,1952 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Wesley and Bernice Jackson. She passed from this life on October 5, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 5 months, and 7 days. She was the second oldest of 6 children and she gave her life to Christ at an early age. She began her education at Rosenwald Elementary and graduated from Bristow High School in 1970. Gail married Clydell Alexander and of this union three children were born. Later she met and married James Cowans. She worked in Bristow at Kwiksett for many years and was very active in the community. Gail was well-known and loved by so many and she never met a stranger. Her dad lovingly called her "Ms. Bristow" and her mom would say "Gail loves that telephone". She could not pass a yard or garage sale without stopping and she was usually shopping for others. She lived her life so selflessly and was always taking care of others more than herself. She traveled all over the United States and sometimes she did it by 18 wheeler. She even attended truck driving school. Gail's favorite pastime was spending time with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her significant other Joe Combs; her children Mario Alexander, Monique Ivy (Richard McDaniel) and Clydell (Buddy) Alexander, Jr all of Bristow; her siblings, Janice (Sanford) Willis of New Jersey, Jackie (Michael) Clayton of Tulsa, Steve (Yvonne) Jackson of Collinsville, Diane (Tony) Easterling of North Carolina, Mike (Susanne) McCargo of Germany and Kim (Mark) Thaxton of Tennessee; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; one living aunt, Ernestine Snell of Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and baby brother Lawrence. She will be dearly missed by all.
