Obituary for James Martin Moon Jr.

James Martin Moon, Jr. was born on November 17, 1930 in Whitsett, Texas to the late James Moon, Sr. and Geneva (Armstrong) Moon. On November 3rd in Drumright, Oklahoma he went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 17 days. James grew up in Three Rivers, Texas where he attended school and played many hours with his siblings, cousins, and friends. He was the son of a preacher and moved to Drumright when his father became the pastor of the Church of God of Apostolic Faith. That’s where he met Emma Cleora “Ora” Parson. They were married on October 30, 1948 and soon began a family. James excelled as a carpenter and built two houses for his family in his lifetime. He worked the majority of his life in the area oil fields but his most meaningful work was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. James was very active in his church and was song leader for 40 years. He would also lead the music every week at the Drumright Nursing Home services. When it came to singing, he was not bashful, which was evident by his passion and 1 volume: loud.
