Obituary for Beverly "Sue" (Hollis) Houston

Beverly Sue Houston, former resident of Drumright, passed from this life on July 16, 2022 at her home in Norman, Oklahoma. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9th at the Drumright First United Methodist Church with Rev. Meg Burris officiating.

Sue was born in Oklahoma City on August 20th 1942 to Gus O’Dell Hollis & Berniece (Rose) Hollis. She was the mother of three children whom she loved dearly: Mark Houston of OKC, Todd Houston of OKC and Stephanie Houston Council of Denver, CO. She adored her seven grandchildren: Mitchell Todd Houston, Natasha Redding, Mark Doss Houston, Blake Houston, Jacob Houston, Gwenna Council and Brynne Council. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Nicole Houston, Faye Houston, Angel Houston, J.R. Houston, Riley Redding and Dallas Redding. She loved Jesus her Savior and her Father Yahweh. Sue was an avid photographer with a passion for photographing America’s national symbol, the Bald Eagle. She was a pilot and a volunteer reserve deputy sheriff. After 25 years, she retired from the State of Oklahoma to pursue her dreams of volunteering in the Christian Ministry, being with her family and continuing photography. She was the president of the Drumright Human Needs Council, a community assistance ministry under the Drumright Ministerial Alliance. She loved this assignment God gave to her. She had many cherished friends of all ages and considered friends a special and rare privilege. Prior to her passing, she said, “The most important thing I want to be known is how wonderful I feel now that I am home with the Lord. I’m counting on you to find your way to heaven, and there is only one narrow road that leads there and that is through the Lord Jesus when you invite him into your heart to be your Savior and King”.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Drumright Human Needs Council.
