Obituary for Charlie Compton

Graveside services for Mannford resident, Charlie Compton, were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the Harrell Cemetery at Cushing, Oklahoma. Pastor Roger White of New Pathways Baptist Church officiated. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. “Charlie”, as he was known to many, was born in Drumright, Oklahoma on October 4, 1932 to the late William Alexander Compton & Pearl Flossie (Hunsaker) Compton. He passed from this life in Mannford, Oklahoma on April 9, 2021 at the age of 88 years, 6 months, & 4 days. Charlie was delivered by Dr. Starr & was very proud to be a “Starr baby”. He was raised by his sister & brother-in-law: Willa Pearl & Clarence Arnold in the Rose Hill area. He graduated from Drumright High School in 1950 & joined the United States Army in 1953. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he served as a company clerk. In 1953 he married Billie Smith from Shamrock, OK & they had 2 children: Sharon & Chuck. They eventually settled in Cushing where he was a member of the Cushing Auxiliary Police. The family moved to Drumright when he purchased the auto parts store from Howard Hand. He owned & operated C&R Auto Parts for many years. After selling the store, he moved to Mannford where he continued in the auto parts business until his retirement. Charlie married Kathleen Barnes in August of 2004 & they have remained together until his death. He was a longtime member & Past Worshipful Master of Drumright Masonic Lodge #468 A.F. & A.M., & a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Charlie loved to fly, had a great talent for the piano, & a mechanical mind. He was always ready & willing to help anyone, anytime, with anything they needed. If he considered you family, he loved you with his whole heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a SON: Chuck Compton; & a Son-In-Law: Dale Owens.

His remaining family includes his WIFE: Kathleen of Mannford; DAUGHTER: Sharon Owens of Jenks; Stepsons: Billy Seals & wife Victoria - Brian Seals & wife Shirley; GRANDCHILDREN: Travis – Chris “Cory” – Jennifer - & William; GREAT Grandchildren: Kennedy – Avett - & Cale; PLUS Nieces – Nephews - & many extended family members is Bristow, Kellyville, & Mustang.
