Obituary for Ruth Ann Ritcheson (Crane)

“Granny” Ruth Ann Ritcheson
A memorial gathering and celebration of life was held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021 in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright for Drumright resident, Ruth Ann Ritcheson. She passed from this life peacefully at her home due to several ongoing health issues on January 7, 2021 at the age of 70 years, 10 months, & 14 days. Ruth was born on February 24, 1950 to the late Charles Winslow Lawrence Crane & the late Jennie Veve (Lathrop) Crane of Calhoun, Illinois. Ruth was divorced at the time of her passing, but she will be joining her late husband Fred Robert Ritcheson Sr. of Carmi, IL who passed on October 27, 2003. She was also married to Roger Ostrom, her oldest daughter’s father and was married to John Gregg, her oldest son’s father. Although divorced, she remained friends with all her ex-husbands. Ruth moved to Drumright in the summer of 1998 with her daughter & 2 grandchildren from Fairfield, Illinois. She loved Drumright because it brought back so many memories from her own childhood because her father had worked in the oil fields while she was growing up. Everyone knew Ruth was a daddy’s girl.

For many years Ruth worked at Jo's Drive In. That is where she would gain her name GRANNY, from a spunky high school girl named Shania Jones. While working at Jo's Drive In, that is where she met the best bosses of her life: Jamie & Tara Osterhout. Jamie loved to embarrassed Granny in front of all the coffee drinkers. It was always the best moment of the day. After the fast-paced life at Jo's, Granny decided that her health was not good and she wasn’t a spring chicken any more. So, she started being a care giver. That is where Granny found her true passion. She took care of several local families loved ones. Granny was always opening her home to anyone in need. Her heart was sometimes bigger than her means, but that is what made her a Granny to everyone and what will always be remembered. She was loved by so many and will forever be missed. In addition to her parents, Granny was preceded in death by 4 BROTHERS: Victor - Max – Robert - & Charles Crane, Jr.

She is survived by 4 CHILDREN: Becky West & husband David of Drumright – Jonny Gregg & fiancé Lisa Miller of Carmi, IL - April Allen & husband Ronnie of Drumright - & Fred Robert Ritcheson of Carmi, IL; 13 GRANDCHILDREN: Brittney – Ariel – Brooke - Corey – Blaine - Bentley – Shania - Danielle -Kolton (aka “Bubby”) - Alicia - Austin – Daytona - & Heaven; 15 Great Grandchildren; 1 SISTER: Vera Terrell of Crossville ,IL; 1 BROTHER: Michael Crane of Calhoun, IL; and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and friends. “It is never goodbye - it is - I will see you later”.
