Obituary for Leonard Albert Armstrong

Leonard Armstrong, Jr. was born February 2, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Leonard Armstrong, Sr., and Geraldine Richardson. He passed from this life on December 16, 2020 at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 14 days. When Leonard was 6 years old he moved to Wichita, Kansas with his Aunt Annabelle, and Uncle Ira Whittaker. Leonard graduated from East High School in Wichita, and soon after graduation he enlisted in the US Army. Shortly after his discharge from the Army he moved to Drumright, OK in the late 1970s & met the beautiful Janice McCormick. The couple were married in 1984 at Mount Calvery Baptist Church. Together they became guardians of Porsha and Quayla McCormick and raised them as their own. He was a family man! Raising grandchildren in the Church, Leonard very rarely missed a service. Most recently he joined Free Will Baptist Church and gained a sweet church family. Leonard's hobbies included working at the Drumright Museum, eating at Texas Roadhouse as often as possible, and spending time with family. Leonard is proceeded in death by his mother Geraldine Richardson, father Leonard Armstrong, Sr., Uncle Ira Whittaker, ex-wife Janice McCormick, granddaughter Tosha Strader, stepchildren Kevin, Cheree, and Udell McCormick. Leonard is survived by his Aunt Annabelle Whittaker of Wichita, KS. Porsha McCormick and family of Bristow, OK. Quayla McCormick and family of Drumright, OK and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Leonard will be missed dearly by so many. Well done good and faithful servant.
