Obituary for Doris Erwin

Funeral services for Drumright resident, Doris B. Erwin, will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Drumright First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale, Oklahoma.

Doris was born in Wadestown, West Virginia on September 15, 1925 to the late Ray M. Jones & Rozella (Hartley) Jones. She passed from this life at her residence on January 14, 2020 at the age of 94 years, 3 months, & 30 days. Her family moved by train from West Virginia to Maramec, Oklahoma where her father went to work in the oil fields. She attended Quay Schools through her sophomore year, after which, the family moved to Shidler, Oklahoma. During her junior year, she met Charlie Disel & they were united in marriage while she was still a senior in High School. Charlie made a career serving in the United States Army. They raised 2 boys and made Lawton their home for many years. Doris & Charlie remained together until his death in 1995. She later met Don “Pete” Erwin and they were united in marriage in 2002. They made their home in Drumright and attended the United Methodist Church. Prior to moving to Drumright, Doris was a longtime member of Western Hills Christian Church in Lawton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 BROTHERS: Raymond Jones & Waldon “Buck” Jones; also 2 SISTERS: Juanita Cockran & Jo Ann Bright.

Her remaining family includes her HUSBAND: Pete Erwin of Drumright; 2 SONS: Charles Disel & wife Gloria of Michigan – Allen Disel & wife Kathy of Texas; GRANDCHILDREN: Brian & Bethany – Trent & Kayla – Brad - Amanda; 4 STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Brent – Scott – Michelle - & Christie; GREAT Grandchildren: Zoey – Alayna – Sadie - & Zach. With her 2nd marriage, she inherited 2 SONS; Larry Erwin & wife Patricia of Drumright – Jerry Dale Erwin of Kansas; GRANDCHILDREN: Amy Jo & Chris – Erick & Sharon – Jamie & Jarod; PLUS Great Grandchildren; and MANY - Nieces – Nephews – Cousins – other relatives – and friends.
