Obituary for Neva Gay Coats

Graveside rites for former Drumright resident, Neva Gay Coats, were held 11 am Friday, December 13, 2019 in the Yukon Cemetery at Yukon, Oklahoma. Rev. Bill Kalfas of Bethany Williams Church of the Nazarene officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Neva Gay Coats was born in Highway, Kentucky on June 1, 1929 to the late Dardanes Mackey & Mary (Shelley) Mackey. She passed from this life in Bethany, Oklahoma on December 9, 2019 at the age of 90 years, 2 months, & 8 days. Neva grew up in Kentucky until her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1935. She married Harold Coats on June 8, 1952 & due to her husband being a minister, they lived in many different towns. In 1964 they moved from Cleveland to Drumright where they remained. Neva became a schoolteacher and taught 1st grade in Drumright until her retirement. She moved to Warr Acers in 2007 to be closer to family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1976; 2 BROTHERS: Jessie Mackey & Campbell Mackey; 2 SISTERS: Imogene & Eva Faye.

Her remaining family includes her CHILDREN: Harold & Sherri Coats of Warr Acres & Richard & Brenda Coats of Oak Grove.
