Melba Faye Ryker was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 7, 1961 to the late Virgil Dewey Sams & Goldie (Edens) Sams. She passed from this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in Tulsa at the age of 58 years, 7 months, & 30 days. Melba was raised & educated in Olive & had lived much of her life in Creek County. Her working career consisted of a vast variety of several jobs in her lifetime. She was a hard, diligent worker and took great pride in whatever she was doing. She never left a task undone. At the time of her death, she was working as a cashier. She married Mike Ryker on June 16, 2017 & they made their home in Olive. When you didn’t see Melba working among friends or in the community, you got to see who she truly was. She & Mike worked opposite shifts & when she was alone, you might find her soothing her soul by holding & petting her sweet cat “Sadie”. However, she would always find time in the mornings to braid Mike’s hair & see him off to work each day. She loved to laugh, spend time with her family & friends, & please everyone around her. If her kids or grandbabies needed help, she’d drop everything in a heartbeat for them, much less for anyone else. Melba enjoyed quilting, crocheting, & going to concerts. She loved to cook, and just like her momma, she could throw down some meatloaf, or chicken & dumplings, or beans & taters in a jiff. She loved to hop on the back of Mike’s motorcycle, throw her head back, and feel the spirit of the wind blow through her hair. With Mike, she enjoyed the happiest years of her adult life which made her relationships with her children & grandchildren grow stronger each day. She was a God-fearing woman & a loving mother, which is the greatest gift of all. She leaves this earth not parting but uniting a family & laying a foundation for the future. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 BROTHERS; Randy & Jackie Sams.
Her remaining family includes her HUSBAND: Mike Ryker of Olive; CHILDREN: Jesica Dolan of Mannford – Steven Parker of Mannford – Myka Ryker of Drumright – Dalton Moore of Cushing; GRANDCHILDREN: Trinity – Alex – Camden – Samuel – Steven – Taryn – Maddie – & Graceland; GREAT Grandchild: Emerson; 2 BROTHERS & 2 SISTERS: Charles Sams of Berryhill – Ronald Sams of Olive – Loretta Varner of Yale – Martha Flynt of Mannford; numerous Nieces – Nephews - other relatives & friends.
