Obituary for Alton Wayne Bateman

Funeral services for Drumright resident, Alton Bateman were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Drumright River of Life Christian Center. Interment followed in the Drumright North Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Alton Wayne Bateman was born in Drumright, Oklahoma on August 22, 1941 to Cleave Alton Bateman & Blanche (Wright) Bateman. He passed from this life at his residence on July 15, 2019 at the age of 77 years, 10 months, & 23 days. Alton was raised & educated in Drumright & was a 1960 graduate of Drumright High School. After High School, he attended drafting classes at OSU Okmulgee. He later realized he had an interest & desire to work with metal and became a fabricator & welder. In his early years, he coached Mannford Little League Baseball & was a member of the Creek County Sherriff Posse. He had lived all his life in Drumright & since 1993 was the owner operator of Al’s Discount Muffler Shop in Cushing. He was preceded in death by his father: Cleave Bateman.

His remaining family includes his WIFE: Cathy Bateman of the home; CHILDREN: Barbara & Tom of Virginia – Connie & Nickki of Mannford – Desirée & Justin of Cushing – Ray & Katy of Oklahoma - & Jason of Cushing; GRANDCHILDREN: Justin – James – Tiffany & Michael – Dakota – Cheyenne – Taylor – Logan - & Jayce; NUMEROUS Great Grandchildren; his MOTHER: Blanche Bateman of Drumright; BROTHER: Don & Nancy Bateman of Sapulpa; SISTER: Peggy & Bob Stottlemyre of Sand Springs; & a HOST of Nieces – Nephews – Cousins – other relatives & friends.
