Obituary for Jeff Matherly
Funeral services for Drumright resident, Jeff Matherly, were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2019 in the Drumright First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Durant officiating. Interment followed in the Cushing Fairlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.
Jeffery Lynn Matherly was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on May 20, 1967 to Jerry Leon Matherly & Loretta Armstrong Matherly. He passed from this life suddenly in Stillwater on May 29, 2019 at the age of 52 years & 9 days. Jeff was raised in Olive & went to school there till 4th grade. He completed his education in Drumright & was a 1985 graduate of Drumright High School. In 1996, Jeff started working as a reserve police officer for the Drumright Police Department. From 1999 to 2003 he was employed as a fulltime officer. He then left the department & went to work for Submersible Pumps Inc. in Cushing. At the time of his death, he was their shop foreman. Jeff loved to ride motorcycles & hang out with his biker friends & participate in Poker Runs. He also enjoyed fishing. But what brought him most joy was spending time with friends & family. Jeff was preceded in death by his FATHER: Jerry Leon Matherly; & his GRANDPARENTS: George & Okemah Matherly -&- L.B. & Billie Armstrong.
He leaves behind a SON: John Matherly; his MOTHER: Loretta Matherly Niccum; SISTER: Julie House & husband Scott; NIECE & NEPHEWS: Jordan Harper – Joshua Harper – Jackson House - & Jacob House, all of Drumright; plus SEVERAL: Aunts – Uncles - Cousins - & other relatives from both sides of the Armstrong & Matherly families.
