Obituary for Edith M. Carlton

Funeral services for Oak Grove resident, Edith Carlton, were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. Pastor Roy Bingham of Grace Hospice officiated. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery at Oilton, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Edith Marie Carlton was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on May 24, 1932 to the late Joseph Ralph Campbell & Audrey Grace (Lee) Campbell. She passed from this life at her residence on March 9, 2019 at the age of 86 years, 9 months, & 13 days. Edith was raised in Oilton & attended the 2nd grade at Crowe Elementary until her family moved to Odin, Illinois in 1938. She finished her education and remained in Illinois until 1952 when she returned to this area. She had worked in the meat market at C&H Grocery and later Hutchison’s Discount Foods until her retirement. She married Jimmie Eugene Carlton in Drumright on May 24, 1979 (her birthday) and they remained together until his death in 2004. Edith loved to embroider quilt blocks, making many quilts for family & friends. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church at Bristow. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by 2 SONS: Bruce Tiner & Kenneth Bray; & her BROTHER & Sister-In-Law: Donald & Ruby Campbell.

She leaves behind her CHILDREN: John Campbell of Drumright – Ralph Bray of Drumright – Tom Bray of Oak Grove; 11 GRANDCHILDREN – 24 GREAT Grandchildren – 1 GREAT GREAT Grandchild; SISTER: Ellen Roach & husband Thurvan of Oklahoma City; & Nieces - Nephews – Cousins - & numerous other relatives & friends.
