Obituary for Jessie M. Combs
Funeral services for Bristow resident, Jessie Combs, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow. Interment will follow in the Bristow Magnolia Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow.
Jessie M. Combs was born in Creek County on May 29, 1926 to the late James Lane & Junetta (Jones) Lane. She passed away suddenly at her residence on January 6, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Jessie was raised & educated in Bristow. When she was a teenager, she left Bristow and ended up in Kansas City where she remained for many years. She had worked for a pharmaceutical company until her retirement in 1990. While in Kansas City, she would make several trips back to Bristow to visit. In 1997, she moved back to Bristow to stay. She married Ben Hess Combs on December 7, 1998 & they made their home in Bristow. Jessie was very active in her church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, and was a longtime director of the Male Chorus group. Her dedication & devotion to her faith & church was known to many and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ben; & 2 SISTERS: Eddie Morlett & Margie.
Her remaining family includes NIECES: Viva Brown & Lenora Combs Counter, both of Bristow; Great NEPHEWS: Darren Brown of Georgia – Terrance Brown of Kansas; numerous other relatives & her Brothers & Sisters in Christ from her church.
