Obituary for Roy Lewis Gunter
Graveside services for Cushing resident, Roy Lewis Gunter were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the Osage Cemetery at Agra, OK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.
Roy Lewis Gunter was born in Tryon, Oklahoma on September 2, 1930 to the late Roy Gunter & Icel Mae (Lewis) Gunter. He passed from this life in Drumright on December 20, 2018 at the age of 88 years, 3 months, & 18 days. Roy was raised & educated in this area & had lived all of his life in the Lincoln, Payne, & Creek County area. He joined the United States Army in 1951, served during the Korean War, and was discharged in 1956. He married Odessa Vaunita Myrick & they remained together until her death in 1980. Roy had worked as a paint & body man all of his life. Roy liked to ride horses & was a member of the Perkins Roundup Club & Payne County Sheriffs Posey. He also enjoyed tooling leather. In addition to his parents & wife, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter: Zoey; & 6 brothers & sisters.
His remaining family includes his children: Renee Mills & Regina Tanner, both of Cushing; GRANDCHILDREN: Austin – Jeremy – J.C. – Tabatha - & Gunter; GREAT Grandchildren: Corbin – Hunter – Alexis – Kaylee – Lealanie – Clhoe Hyde – Macie – Clhoe Mills – & Keegan; also numerous Nieces, Nephews, & other relatives.
