Obituary for Jimmie Richard Bishop

Graveside funeral rites for Midwest City resident, Jimmie Richard Bishop were held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Magnolia Memorial Park at Bristow, OK Officiating was Mr. David Taylor. Jimmie Richard Bishop was born in Tuskegee, Oklahoma on May 16, 1935 to the late Bill Bishop & Hazel Ann (McCready) Bishop. He passed from this life in Oklahoma City on April 13, 2018 at the age of 82 years, 10 months, & 28 days. Jimmie was raised & educated in Bristow & was a 1952 graduate of Bristow High School. He then joined the United States Air Force & was honorably discharged in 1956. He had worked in Tulsa for many years at American Airlines, then at Dorset Electronic. He moved to Oklahoma City & worked for LeeWay Trucking for a while then got a job with the USAF at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement. Jim was an avid hunter & fisherman. He competed in shooting sports & built most of his own firearms. He also built & flew model aircraft in many competitions. He had won many trophies between his shooting & flying competitions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Billy Bishop, and granddaughter: Andrea Michelle Bishop.

His remaining family includes his CHILDREN: Richard Bishop of Sand Springs – Mark Bishop & wife Lisa of Calera – Matthew Bishop of Midwest City - Connie Cochran & husband Micky of Sand Springs – Pam Tufts & husband Jeff of Bristow; 10 GRANDCHILDREN – 15 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; a BROTHER: Larry Bishop of Stroud; and numerous other relatives & friends.
