Funeral services for Drumright resident, Irene Russell, were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Oilton First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Calvert officiating. Interment followed in Euchee Valley Memorial Park near Cushing, OK. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.
Irene Russell was born in Muldrow, Oklahoma on December 23, 1924 to the late Henry Thornhill & Christina (Ramey) Thornhill. She passed from this life at her daughter’s home in Drumright on September 1, 2017 at the age of 92 years, 8months, & 9 days. Irene was raised & educated in Drumright. She married Don Russell of Drumright & they had 4 Children: Donald Joe – Patricia Ann – Terry Allen - & Mary Jane. The family moved to California where they remained several years, specifically Moorpark, CA. While there, she had worked as a waitress, was a Café owner, specialty cake maker, hospice caregiver, & a school nurse. She was known as “Grandma” to many children. Irene moved back to Drumright in 2011 to be closer to family. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion, & Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling & spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 children: Donald Joe Russell in 2011 & Terry Allen Russell in 1968; also 12 brothers & sisters.
Her remaining family includes 2 DAUGHTERS: Patricia Halas & husband Pete of Stroud, OK – Mary Jane Delp & husband Frank of Drumright, OK; 3 GRANDCHILDREN: Tammie Ann Burns – Donna Irene Phoenix – Conrad D.S. Beltramo; 8 GREAT Grandchildren: Christopher Dyer – Lester Dyer – Katheryn Dyer – Patricia Shaw – Sama Beltramo – Emma Beltramo – Andrew Ruiz – Derrick Ruiz; 3 Great GREAT Grandchildren: Garrett Saye – Olivia Dyer – Paisley Saye; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, other family members & loving friends.
