A memorial gathering of friends & family will be held June 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Michael’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel – Bristow for Depew resident Joseph Franklin “Joe” Glisson. Cremation & service arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow, OK.
Joseph Franklin “Joe” Glisson was born in Wewoka, OK on May 25, 1926 to the late Fines Glisson and Dora (Roseberry) Glisson. He passed from this life at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK on June 2, 2017 at the age of 91 years & 7 days. Joe was raised and educated in Oklahoma and Arkansas. On August 9, 1944, at the age of 18, Joe enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served our country during WWII. He was honorably discharged on July 11, 1946. Joe was united in marriage to Oretta May Henderson in Brawley, CA in 1962. The family returned to Oklahoma and settled in Depew in 1974, remaining there until his passing. Joe worked as a mechanic for John Cassidy Company until his retirement in 1991. He was a very well accomplished “jack of all trades” & was a loving husband, father, & grandfather. He always went out of his way to help people in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a DAUGHTER: Peggy (Glisson) Cook;
a GRANDDAUGHTER; and 16 SIBLINGS.
Those left to mourn his passing include his WIFE: Oretta May Glisson of the home; CHILDREN: Bob Glisson & wife Mitchie – Donna Brewer – Ken Hamilton & wife Jan – Kathy (Hamilton) Goodwin & husband Rick – Linda (Glisson) Carter – Steve Hamilton & wife Debbie – David Glisson & wife Jodi – and Mike Glisson & wife Brenda; NUMEROUS Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great-Grandchildren; plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
