Funeral services for Olive resident, Ronald Joe Tarwater, were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Olive First Baptist Church. Interment followed in the First Mission Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Ronald Joe Tarwater was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on November 22, 1942 to the late Charles Tarwater & Maudie Ellen (Justus) Tarwater. He passed from this life at his residence in Olive on June 21, 2016 at the age of 73 years, 6 months, & 30 days. Ronald was raised in Henryetta & educated in Wilson, Ok where he graduated in 1961. He married Alice Faye Groene in Henryetta on October 22, 1962 & they raised 3 children. They moved to the Olive / Silver City area in 1972. Ronald had worked as a machinist for John Zink, Callidus, Fisher Products, Ideal Machine, & OK Plunger, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting & fishing in his younger years and after retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his grandkids. He taught them about farming, raising cattle, and how to be ornery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a SISTER & Brother-In-Law: Linda & Carl Harris; SISTER: Barbara Stanton; Sister-In-Law & Brother-In-Law: Mable & Ralph Ousley.

His remaining family includes his loving wife: Alice Faye Tarwater of the home; CHILDREN: Becky Laffoon & husband Terry of Olive – Jeff Tarwater of Mannford – Steven Tarwater or Pawhuska; GRANDCHILDREN: Dustin Laffoon – Matthew Laffoon – Madison Laffoon – Chad Tarwater – Amber & Ken Rodd – plus Harley Purvis & Cyle Colwell whom he considered as grandchildren; 1 BROTHER: James Tarwater of Henryetta; BROTHER-IN-LAW: Larry Stanton of Schulter; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, other relatives & friends.
