Memorial services for Carl W. Glisson will be held on June 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Michael’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Bristow, OK. Pastor Wayne Gemmill of Bristow Christian Center will officiate. Services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow, OK. Carl W. Glisson was born in Barber Township, AR on August 10, 1940 to the late Fines Glisson and Dora (Roseberry) Glisson. He passed from this life in Tulsa on June 5, 2016 at the age of 75 years, 9 months, & 26 days. At the age of 17, Carl joined the United States Army and during his career, was stationed in Washington, D.C. - South Korea – Japan - & Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. While serving in Japan, Carl met Makiko Nagaoka and they were united in marriage on April 17, 1961 in Tokyo. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1964, the family moved to Buena Park, CA and Carl worked as a block mason with his brother David for years. In 1972 Carl went to work at San Quentin Prison as a correctional officer and commuted until relocating the family to El Sobrante in 1976. The family made their final move in 1980, settling in Depew, OK. During the next 16 years, Carl drove a bus route for the Depew Schools along with various other jobs. In 1996 he
was hired by the Bristow Police Department, filling the available position, “dispatcher”. Carl worked his way up through the ranks and retired as the Bristow Chief of Police on July 7, 2004. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his WIFE: Makiko Glisson in 2013; 6 Brothers - 4 Sisters - & 5 infants.
Those left to mourn his passing include his 4 SONS: Donald Glisson of Depew – Alan Glisson and wife Raquel of CA – Michael Glisson and wife Jenyfer of Sapulpa - & Wendell Glisson and wife April of Stroud; 7 GRANDCHILDREN: Kristin – Holly – Michael (II) – April – Scout – Bryan - & Devon; 1 BROTHER: Joseph F. Glisson of Depew; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
