Funeral services for former Drumright resident, Geneva Delancy, were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 in the Drumright River of Life Christian Center with Rev. Kevin Vogele officiating. Interment followed in Euchee Valley Memorial Park near Cushing. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.
Geneva Delancy was born in Paragould, Arkansas on November 17, 1924 to the late Cornelius Bernard Hendley & Mattie Elizabeth (Kirby) Hendley. She passed from this life at Harrah, Oklahoma on April 27, 2016 at the age of 91 years, 5 months, & 10 days. Geneva was raised & educated in Arkansas. She married George Andrew Delancy on February 20, 1947 & they made their home in Arkansas, Louisiana, & Tennessee before settling in Drumright in 1950. Geneva had worked as a cook for the Drumright Nursing Home for 18 ½ years & the Lakeside Daycare in Oklahoma City until her retirement. She moved to Harrah, Oklahoma in 2011 where she remained the rest of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a BROTHER: John Hendley; SISTER: Earline Sipes; SISTERS-IN-LAW: Goldie Hendley – Bertha Kennedy – Mary Nixon; SON-IN-LAW: David Allen; GRANDSON: Rodney Cross; & 2 other GRANDCHILDREN.
Her remaining family includes her CHILDREN: Georgetta Barton & husband Ray of McAlester – Brenda Gray of Missouri – Carolyn Davis & husband George of Harrah – Patricia Cross of Sapulpa – Claude Delancy & wife Mona of Texas; GRANDCHILDREN: Karmin – Debbie – Ray Lynn – Toni Ray – Danny – Denise – James – Lorie – Jayson – April – Keith - & Crystal; 17 GREAT Grandchildren – 1 GREAT Great GRANDCHILD; also numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives, and friends.
