Obituary for Harold "Possum" Hinshaw

Graveside funeral rites for Drumright resident, Harold Hinshaw were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019 in the Shamrock Cemetery at Shamrock, Oklahoma. Chaplain Roy Bingham of Grace Hospice officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Harold W. Hinshaw, known to most as “Possum”, was born in Shamrock, Oklahoma on April 5, 1934 to the late Everett Hinshaw & Azalee (Wade) Hinshaw. He passed from this life in Cushing on December 22, 2019 at the age of 85 years, 8 months, & 17 days. Harold was raised & educated in Shamrock & had lived all his life in this immediate area. He had worked in the oilfields for 15+ years. He then went to work for Creek County as a grader & heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He married Mary (Derr) Osborn & they have remained together for 45+ years. Harold was a master woodworker & had made numerous miniature oilfield models which are on display at the Drumright Chamber of Commerce & the Drumright Historical Museum. His attention to detail was amazing. Another favorite pastime was fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a SON: Donald Gene Hinshaw in 1976; a STEPSON: Harold Osborn; & a SISTER: Frankie Beck.

His remaining family includes his WIFE: Mary Hinshaw of Cushing; CHILDREN: Kenneth Wayne Hinshaw - & Roger Darrell Hinshaw, both of Drumright; STEPSON: Gerald Osborn of Oilton; GRANDCHILDREN: Tana – Kenneth, II – Azalee – Kirk – Gayla - & Ginger; 3 GREAT Grandchildren plus 1 on the way: SISTERS: Connie Stubblefield of Bristow – Dracy Flatt of Drumright – Shelia Deshazer of Oilton – Barbara Hinshaw of Oilton; plus several Nieces, Nephews, other relatives & friends.
