Funeral services for Cushing resident, LaVerne Morris will be held 10 am Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cushing. Rev. W.R. Raines, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow Saturday, February 24th in the Nineveh Cemetery at Nineveh, Indiana. Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

LaVerne Mae Morris was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 4, 1927 to the late Claude Orff & Hazel (Fisher) Orff. She passed from this life in the Linwood Village Nursing Home in Cushing, Oklahoma on February 17, 2018 at the age of 90 years, 2 months, & 13 days. LaVerne was raised & educated in Indianapolis & was a 1945 graduate of High School. She married Alva Sylvester Morris, Jr. on June 1, 1946 & they made their home in Indiana for many years. She had worked as an Elementary School Secretary in Nineveh – Hensley - & Jackson, Indiana until her retirement in 1986. For 20 some years she was the organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Franklin, Indiana. In 1968, she joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and continued to be an active member until death. She & Al moved to Drumright, OK in 1993, then Cushing, OK in 2003. Not missing a beat, she took up the role of organist for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cushing, OK which she did for 15+ years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband in 2007; a Daughter: Deborah Emberton; Sister: Charlotte Wert; & 2 Brothers: Charles & George Orff.

She leaves behind a SON: Daniel Morris & wife Cyndi of Mannford, OK; GRANDCHILDREN: Kelly Morris – Jason Morris – Danielle Brown – Andrea Stogsdill; Great GRANDCHILDREN: Cayelea Ross – Sadie Morris – Carson Morris – Daniel Bridges – Paisley Brown - & Camdyn Stogsdill.
