Obituary for Robert Wesley Peden

Memorial services for Drumright resident, Robert Wesley Peden, were held 2 pm Thursday, January 4, 2018 in the Drumright First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Durant officiating. Interment followed in the Drumright Greenlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Robert Peden was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on February 17, 1927 to the late John Seaborn Peden & Ethel Eudora (Lewis) Peden. He passed from this life suddenly at his residence on December 30, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 10 months, & 13 days. Robert was raised & educated in both Oilton & Drumright. After High School, he joined the United States Army & served his country during WWII. On March 28, 1948 he married Marjorie Ellen Titus & they have remained together until his death. In 1963 he was hired by the Boy Scouts of America as the first Ranger for the Will Rogers Council Camp near Cleveland; serving until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, they made their home in Drumright. Robert was a true & faithful servant in the Methodist Church; attending both Oilton & Drumright for many years. He enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities including camping & fishing. He loved to tell stories and “never met a stranger”. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 BROTHERS: J.R. Peden & Judge Jerald Peden; & a SISTER: Rowena Smith.

His remaining family includes his loving WIFE of 69 years: Marjorie Peden of the home; SON: Rob Peden & wife Becky of Missouri; DAUGHTER: Sue Miller of Cleveland; GRANDCHILDREN: Tbob Gaspard & Emily Gaspard; GREAT Grandchildren: Morgan Benoit – Alyssa Gaspard – Tristan Gaspard – Drake Ashlock; NIECE: Mary Ellen Walker; SPECIAL Friends & Neighbors: Loren & Marsha Guyer; numerous OTHER relatives; & his beloved DOG: Daisy.
