Obituary for James Arthur Lemmons

Graveside funeral rites for Drumright resident, Jim Lemmons, were held 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 in the Drumright Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Sonny Johnston officiating. Military funeral rites were provided by the United States Army. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. James “Jim” Lemmons was born in Cushing, OK on March 21, 1930 to the late Charles C. Lemmons & Frances Agnus (Sullins) Lemmons. He passed from this life at his residence on April 25, 2017 at the age of 87 years, 1 month, & 4 days. Jim had worked in the oilfields around Texas & New Mexco. In 1951 he joined the United States Army & served until 1956. He met Phyllis May Goodman in Borger, TX & they were united in marriage on November 10, 1957. They moved back to Drumright in 1960 & had remained here since. Jim had worked at the Chevrolet Garage for a while but always returned to the oil fields. He had worked for Taylor Well Service, Creek County Well Service, Lemmons Well Service, Little River Energy, & U.S. Tank Trucks. He enjoyed fishing & loved to spend time with his kids, Grandchildren, & great grandchildren. In his later years, he took up woodworking & could be seen on many roadsides selling his wooden bi-planes he made. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his WIFE in 2016; SON: James Lemmons; & 3 BROTHERS: Buck – Jackie - & Lonnie.

His remaining family includes 2 SONS: Glen Lemmons of Chelsea - Wade Lemmons of Maude; 15 GRANDCHILDREN – 25 Great Grandchildren; 1 SISTER: Glenda Bigalow of California; & numerous other relatives & friends.
