Obituary for Clara Marie Franklin

Graveside funeral rites for former Drumright resident, Clara Marie Franklin, were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 in the Greenwood Cemetery near Yale, OK. Rev. Tyler McDowell of the Olive First Baptist Church officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. Marie Franklin was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on August 6, 1932 to the late Robert Hutson & Lucy (Thomas) Hutson. She passed from this life in Drumright on February 3, 2017 at the age of 84 years, 5 months, & 28 days. At a young age, Marie’s family moved to Wichita, Kansas where she graduated High School. She moved to Drumright in 1962 & had worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at the Drumright Nursing Home for several years until her retirement. On March 4, 1967 she married Calvin Wayne Franklin & they made their home in Drumright, remaining together until his death in 2012. Marie was a member of the Shamrock First Baptist Church. She & her husband were supporters of many missions, especially Camp Lela near Glencoe. She loved to be outdoors working in her garden or mowing the lawn. She enjoyed quilting & helping others in any way she could. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by a DAUGHTER: Jackie Moore; & a SON: Franklin Ross Cruz.

She leaves behind her caregiver & niece: Nancy Franklin of Cushing; Step-son: Gary Franklin & wife Debbie of Yale; Step-Daughter: Sandra Pearson of Colorado; 7 Grandchildren – 13 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Lillian Kelly of Tulsa; Brother: Jack Hutson & wife Martha of Kansas; also numerous other Nieces, Nephews, relatives & friends. The family would like to express their thanks & gratitude to: Kristen – Sherry K. – Judy – Brandi – Sherry L. - & Afton for their compassion and care.
