Obituary for Thurman Nelson Clement

Funeral services for Oilton resident, Thurman Clement, were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home. Pastor John Squires of Souls Harbor Lighthouse Church officiated. Interment followed in the Oilton Highland Cemetery with the United States Army providing funeral honors. Thurman Nelson Clement was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on May 28, 1930 to the late Nelson Lee Clement & Ida Ocie (Williams) Clement. He passed from this life at his residence on November 4, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 5 months, & 7 days. Thurman grew up in the Seminole area. His mother died when he was a child & he was raised by Cora Evelyn (Poole) Clement. He joined the United States Army in 1948 & was shot while serving his country during the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart Award. While in the service, he married Alice Ruth Poole on December 21, 1950 in Bristow, OK & they remained together until her death in 2007. He had lived in the Drumright & Oilton area 53+ years & had retired from Federated Metals in Sand Springs. Thurman was active in the Senior Citizens Center, was a member of the Mannford VFW & District 5 Funeral Honor Guard Rifle Team. He enjoyed playing music & singing, & loved spending time with his family & friends. In addition to his Mother, Parents, & Wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son; a DAUGHTER: Thurlene Gobble in 2007; & a SISTER: Jean Cornett.

His remaining family includes his CHILDREN: David & Becky Clement of Arkansas – Rickey & Kathy Clement of Oilton – Evelyn & David Briggs of Tulsa – Linda & Steve Rainey of Earlsboro; 11 Grandchildren – 27 Great Grandchildren; other relatives & friends.
