Funeral services for Drumright resident, Bill Burtchett, were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29th in the Drumright Church of the Nazarene with Rev. John Smith of the Drumright First Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Drumright Oak Hill Cemetery with the Drumright Police Department & the Fire Department serving as casket bearers. William E. “Bill” Burtchett was born in Nowata, OK on September 11, 1952 to the late William Howard Burtchett & Anna Mae (Ledbetter) Burtchett. He passed from this life suddenly in Fayetteville, Arkansas on October 23, 2016 at the age of 64 years, 1 month, & 12 days. Bill was raised in numerous places due to his father working in construction. They lived in Morris, OK for a time where he graduated high school in 1970. Bill started his career in law enforcement many years ago. He had served on numerous departments, including Okemah, Creek County, & the Drumright Police Department. He had also worked 22 years as a heavy equipment operator for Creek County District 2 until his recent retirement. He truly enjoyed his work & maintained a very high work ethic throughout his career. At the time of his death, he was a candidate for Creek County District 2 Commissioner. Bill enjoyed many things in life including farming, raising collies, working with cattle & horses, & law enforcement. But none more important than spending time with his family. On April 18, 1986 he married Debbie Wells & they made their home in Drumright.
His remaining family includes his loving WIFE of 30 years: Debbie of the home; 2 CHILDREN: Kristen Long & husband David of Morris – Jared James of Tulsa; GRANDCHILDREN: Brittaney & Chris Cantrell – Brandon & Christina Long – Jillyan Long & Justin Long; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Drake – Jake – Lexi – Zane – Ellie – Emmi - & Jaxon; SISTERS: Martha McKee – Kathy Thomas – Debbie Spencer – Lisa Mullin; BROTHER Michael Burtchett; 12 Nieces & Nephews; & his IN-LAWS: Robert & Margaret Wells; along with numerous other relatives and an abundance of friends.
