Funeral services for longtime Oilton resident, Virginia Mable Whitsett, were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25th in the Oilton First Freewill Baptist Church with her grandson, Associate Pastor Andrew Whitsett officiating. Interment followed in the Oilton Highland Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. Virginia Mable Whitsett was born in Van Buren, Arkansas on January 8, 1922 to the late Charlie Campbell & Kate (Smith) Campbell. She passed from this life in Tulsa on October 21, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Virginia was raised & educated in Van Buren & on June 26, 1937 she married the love of her life, Thomas E. Whitsett, & they raised a family of 4 children. They made Oilton, Oklahoma their home since 1953. Virginia had worked as the head cook at the Vidaway School for many years, as a clerk at Jabar’s, & at the Copper Kettle. She was very active in the Oilton Senior Citizens where she enjoyed arranging the memorial flowers. She attended the Oilton First Freewill Baptist Church, loved her church family, and was involved in Women Active For Christ. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, helping people in need, and loved spending time with her family & friends, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her HUSBAND in 1973; DAUGHTER: Doris Martin; GRANDSON: Christopher Martin; 3 BROTHERS: Robert, Andy, & William Campbell; & 3 SISTERS: Lucille Moore, Hazel Winn, Marie Hanning.
Her remaining family includes 3 CHILDREN: Donna Warren of Mustang – Tommy & Patsy Whitsett of Oilton – Ronnie & Donna Whitsett of Mustang; GRANDCHILDREN: Kim Warren – Darren & Yo Warren – Brent & Heather Whitsett – Amy & Sonny Miller – Tyler Whitsett – Jack & Nicole Martin – Patrick & Melissa Martin – Sherry Frisbie & Braden Bush – Andrew & Rylee Whitsett; 17 GREAT Grandchildren & 3 GREAT GREAT Grandchildren; also numerous other relatives & friends.
