Graveside services for Johnnie Melvin Shuffield, Jr were held at Dale Cemetery near Shawnee, OK on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Serving as officiant was Pastor David McNabb of People of Truth Church in Paden, OK. Serving as casket bearers were Preston Crawford, Jason Shuffield, Corey Hess, Richard Shuffield, Mitchell Crawford, and Michael Shuffield. Serving as honorary casket bearers were Johnnie’s brothers, Edward Shuffield, Noel Shuffield, and Jimmie Shuffield. Military funeral rites were provided by The United States Army. Services were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow, OK. Condolences may be made online at www.michaelsfuneralservices.com

Johnnie Melvin Shuffield, Jr was born in Shawnee, OK on May 6, 1940 to the late Johnnie Melvin Shuffield, Sr and Callie Rachel (Elliott) Shuffield. He passed from this life at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on March 29, 2016 at the age of 75 years, 10 months, & 23 days. He was raised and educated in Shawnee, OK but before graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. He served his Country honorably until May 25, 1965. While stationed in Germany, Johnnie met Irene Hess and they were united in marriage on July 24, 1961. The family returned to the United States and they lived in McCloud from 1971 to 1988. They then relocated to Paden, OK where they have remained since. Johnnie worked in civil service at Tinker Airforce Base until retirement. His hobbies included golf, fishing, working on antique cars, and working on the farm. And of course, he would put everything to the side and would not have traded any chance or moment that he was able to spend with his grandchildren. In addition to both parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by a SON: Dieter Hess; a DAUGHTER: Tracy Crawford; a GRANDSON: Kittrick Johnson; and 3 SISTERS; Violet Harper, Wanda Cox, & Mary Ann Bales.

Those left to mourn his passing include HIS WIFE: Irene Shuffield of the Home; 2 DAUGHTERS: Cinthia Ann Shuffield of Tacoma, WA and Donna Jane Shuffield of Midwest City, OK; GRANDCHILDREN: Jason, Kevin, Mark, Corey, Kourtney, Preston, and Mitchell; 1 GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Macimillian, and two others on the way; 3 BROTHERS: Edward Shuffield of Choctaw, OK, Noal Shuffield of Harrah, OK, and Jimmie Shuffield of McCloud, OK. Also, numerous other relatives & friends.
